Trust & Safety for Artists

In this article, we’ll outline our policies and guidelines for managing an artst community.

Topics

User Privacy

As an artist, you gain access to personal data from your members. This can include email address, phone number, regional location and age. Our privacy policy asks members to accept the sharing of their personal data with the artists they subscribe to so you have the legal right to use this data for your marketing efforts and for communicating with customers.

Content Guidelines

As a law-abiding platform that welcomes music lovers of all ages and backgrounds, we have a responsibility to lay down some strict guidelines for user generated material (content, comments, prizes, etc). As an artist, you’re responsible for following these guidelines and doing your best to keep all relevant parties happy. You must refrain from using any behaviour, digital or physical material, content or words that could be considered as:

  • Unwanted commercial content or spam

  • Pornography or sexually explicit material

  • Child abuse

  • Hate speech or graphic violence

  • Harassment or bullying

  • Copyrighted material for which you do not have the rights/permission to publish

Piracy & Copyright Infringement

As an online platform that relies on user generated content, we legally cannot allow any of our users to infringe on the copyright of others'. Furthermore, as an organisation who’s mission is to uphold the value of creativity, copyright infringement has absolutely no place anywhere on artst. There are exceptions where certain use of copyrighted material is fair, and legally allowed, but according to countless copyright-related blogs, the lines are so blurred that we recommend that you do not use any copyrighted material without the correct permission from all it’s owners.

If you find an account that’s posting or using certain material, and you believe they do not have the right to do so, please reach out to this email address: report@artstmedia.com

In your email please include as much of the following information as you can:

  • Your User Name

  • The offending Account Name and Account Link (URL)

  • A Screenshot of the page where you find this material

  • A Link to where we can find the material

  • If the material is no longer available to view, the date and time of when you saw this material

If you’re unsure of whether your content, or anyone else’s content, infringes on copyright, please don’t hesitate to reach out to us. We welcome open conversations about this issue and we’re keen to handle them in the most transparent and empathetic way possible. Feel free to shoot us an email with as much detail and information as possible: report@artstmedia.com

Community Management

As an artist, you are seen as the leader of your community. Although you don’t have a legal responsibility to police your community, we recommend keeping an eye on your members and alerting us of any behaviour, digital or physical material, content or words that could be considered as:

  • Unwanted commercial content or spam

  • Pornography or sexually explicit material

  • Child abuse

  • Hate speech or graphic violence

  • Harassment or bullying

  • Copyrighted material for which you do not have the rights

You can report comments in the mobile app by tapping on the comment options (three dots).

If you would like to block a member of your community and prevent them from accessing or commenting on any of your premium benefits, you can do so in the community management section of the web app. Head to “Community” in the left side menu and hover over any of your members to see blocking options. You can also block multiple members in bulk by selecting the checkboxes and clicking “Block” in the top right. We recommend explaining to the member(s) why they’re being blocked. We’ll send you any correspondence we have with blocked members to allow everyone a chance of re-entry. The blocked member will not be refunded for the previous membership fee, and they will not be charged for any future membership fees unless you grant them re-entry.
